Career Highlights
- ALERT FM Helped build and commercialize ALERT FM, a satellite-fed FM broadcast emergency alerting network. Public safety, government, and enterprise clients use it across North America. Work included direct contact with the federal precursor to today’s Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS), while all-hazard alerting practice was still new.
- Emergency public information More than 20 years of field work with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the Houston Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI), and Louisiana’s Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP).
- Nuclear Emergency Planning Zones Crisis response consultant for emergency communications technology in nuclear Emergency Planning Zone (EPZ) settings. Work covered Entergy EPZ support and critical infrastructure deployment at Bruce Power in Canada.
- Hazmat incident reporting Built an automated hazmat incident reporting suite for Louisiana. It replaced the fax workflow to the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and State Police for public information officers and corporate communications teams.
- Wildfire preparedness communications Led fire preparedness communications in Shasta and Butte counties, California. Built Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) messaging with Fire Safe Councils, granting agencies, and sheriff’s departments.
- Radiolicious Founded Radiolicious in 2008. The company brought terrestrial radio to the early App Store with in-house stream transcoding and telecom-grade load balancing. ALERT FM acquired it in 2010.
- Three-continent manufacturing Managed ALERT FM manufacturing across design and final quality in Sweden, production in Malaysia, and air and sea freight to North America. Coordinated engineers, factory partners, and clients across time zones. When COVID lockdowns and trade rules forced production out of China mid-stream, orders of about 100,000 units stayed on schedule.
- On-device geofenced alert receiver Designed a GPS-free alert receiver. It uses on-device point-in-polygon geofencing over the one-way FM Radio Data System (RDS) channel for alert targeting.
